Martin Luther King Elementary EAST Students (Frost 3rd Grade Team and Vanpatter 4th Grade Team) participated in the Little Rock Serves Launch of its Signature Impact Initiative, Childhood Obesity Prevention and Intervention Program on Wednesday, March 30. The four components of the project include targeting elementary schools with a new classroom nutrition program; a garden-enhanced component; an incentivized student walking program, and a parental mentoring program aimed at increasing access to health foods through an at-home garden.
King EAST Students participated in the planting of an additional garden bed sponsored by the project at the school and will expand their Adopt-A-Garden Project with help from the partnership.
