King EAST Hosts First Annual Basketball Competition

In Mrs. Harris's 5th Grade Class, a group of girls wanted to help pets and a group of boys wanted to have a basketball competition to benefit a charity. The facilitator suggested they join forces. After submitting proposals to the school principal and presenting to the PTA Fall Fest Committee, Points 4 Paws/Caring 4 Animals joined forces to impact over 200 students and adults at the PTA sponsored Fall Fest through a basketball competition and by dispersing brochures and information cards about pet adoption through Care For Animals and listed regulations concerning pets in the City of Little Rock. The groups hope to have a Spring Event with basketball and a week of activities devoted to pets.

  1. You guys have done a great job on your project. Since the team leaders were mainly 5th grade, we need to be sure to leave a toolkit (including templates of flyers, etc.) for students who may want to do this project next year as a legacy project. We also need to include how the project utilized technology, service, self-directed learning, and teamwork. D. Williams, EFAC
